Job Summary

The I-9/Unemployment Compliance Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to all federal regulations related to employment eligibility verification. This position involves engaging with Equifax to monitor completion of Form I-9 for all employees, regularly reporting compliance levels to hiring managers, resolving employment eligibility issues, and conducting audits to verify compliance. The position will also coordinate the company’s response efforts to unemployment benefit contests.  The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and knowledgeable about I-9 processes/compliance and unemployment contests. 

Your Role

·        Form I-9 Management:

o   Engage with Equifax to monitor completion of Form I-9 for all newly hired employees.

o   Report I-9 compliance issues to hiring managers.

o   Work cross-functionally with hiring managers and other internal resources to resolve employment eligibility/I-9 issues.

o   Assist in responding to government audit or investigation related to I-9 compliance.

  • Compliance Audits:
    • Conduct periodic audits of I-9 records to verify accuracy and compliance.
    • Address any discrepancies promptly and work with relevant parties to rectify errors.
    • Keep abreast of changes in immigration laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Training and Education:
    • Advise HR staff, hiring managers, and employees on I-9 requirements and best practices.
    • Provide guidance on proper document verification procedures.
  • Reporting:
    • Generate regular reports on I-9 compliance metrics.
    • Identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Policy Development:
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of I-9 policies and procedures.
    • Ensure alignment with federal guidelines and company practices.
  • Unemployment Contests:
    • Engage with Equifax and management to facilitate the company’s response to requests for unemployment benefits.
    • Work cross-functionally to coordinate preparation of the company’s contest to requests for unemployment benefits.

What You Bring to the Team

·        Some college, including courses in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.

·        At least 1 – 2 years of experience in HR, Compliance, or a related field.

·        Proficient understanding of Form I-9 requirements and related immigration laws.

·        Familiarity with E-Verify and other electronic verification systems.

·        Familiarity with unemployment benefit process and contests.

·        Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously review documents and identify discrepancies.

·        Clear and effective communication skills.

·        Strong organizational abilities to manage records and deadlines.

·        Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
